FlightDataPeople asked for the creation of a new visual identity to launch their hosted flight data and safety software startup company. This would also include logos for their two flagship products SMS360 and FDM360, basic marketing collateral and a new, responsive website.
It was imperative that the identity did not suggest an allegiance with any particular airline or country so careful colour consideration was essential. Due to the international nature of the business it was important that the iconography be simple and clear so as not to be affected by any translation issues. Initial concepts mimicked the look and feel of flight data recorders but was seen as too edgy so a simpler, more direct design of data flowing from the contrails of a plane was developed instead.
The product logos were designed around a concept of connected data points flowing together. Simple shapes and varying colour gradients were used to differentiate the software when in icon form.
